Sean Black

Sean began playing guitar in the early eighties, forming his first band with David Bills on keyboards in 1984. After about five years of playing a mix of what is now considered classic rock covers, Sean joined a newly formed band known as “Mike’s Brother” as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. The band soon recruited Dave in the roll of keyboards and backing vocals. The band continued on as “Cereal Killers” for several years, playing mainly indie and college music covers. Sean later joined some former CK members (including, of course, David Bills) in the much heavier, all original outfit “Zoot”. Out of Zoot came a more textured original band called “Mostly Water”. After the demise of Mostly Water, Sean took a brief musical hiatus before joining Joy Missile. He continues to be heavily influenced by indie pop music and listens to a wide array of indie bands. He is also an avid listener of 20’s through 40’s era blues (the older the better).
