Ed’s playing roots go back to a long time friend teaching him basic guitar chords. His Grandfather a musician himself then taught him music theory and structures. Playing in High School with an Elvis tribute and talent show band that then evolved into a full fledge cover band. Ed’s playing style was influenced by many groups including, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Genesis, Yes, Deep Purple and the Beatles. He joined his first original band (Lobotomy) as a junior in HS. The band recorded “Tumor” in the CRC Downtown studios and played in the Chicagoland and Ohio areas. In his music life after Lobotomy, Ed continued to play in original and cover bands that played the Chicago club and private party circuit. He joined forces with some of his best friends in the band NONSTOP and they played popular cover tunes and 2 original songs that were written by Ed and the band in the 1990’s. He continued to play with his best friends performing as a power trio a variety of rock focused music. Ed was contacted by a member of Joy Missile to checkout the band as they were just starting to work on new songs in Oct 2004 and the remaining core of the soon to be formed Joy Missile was started. Ed enjoys using his bass style to give Joy Missiles songs there rockier edge with interwoven riffs and rhythms that are part of the songs. Never leaving his guitar roots he continues to write music on guitar while choosing to play bass. Collaborating with the band on writing music and song stories he enjoys the freedom to influence the songs by playing what he and other band members “feel” enhances the essence of each of the songs they write and play.
