Biography
If the world was reduced to nothing more than a live music venue, Joy Missile would be the blender behind the bar, serving up energy-infused musical concoctions.  All of the members have been active in the Chicagoland music scene for many years, with each bringing a diverse range of styles into the sound.  Joy Missile uses this fusion of varying styles to create a new hybrid genre of music that rocks like a seesaw laden with Pez-addled toddlers, grooves like an orangutan piloting a Russian spaceship before finally settling into a smooth blues landing to calm your nerves from the trip.  Their first, self-titled CD contains a refreshing mix of songs that sound new, yet are warmly familiar.  They range from the upbeat melancholy funk of "Follow Me Down" to the swaggering, bluesy rock of "Sunshine" to the reggae-infused staccato stomp of "So You Know". 

"Porcupine," another song from Joy Missile's first CD, is currently in the Top 10 at http://www.bandradiolive.com/, and won an honorable mention in the 2005 Billboard Song Contest.  "Follow Me Down" remains high on the Myspace (www.myspace.com/joymissile) play list.  The band was also proud to receive the Gold Viking award for Best Pop Band of 2007 from svensworldradio podcast.

In 2007, Joy Missile was focused on adding new material to the live show and completing their sophomore CD, targeted for release in February 2008.  The new CD titled "Bent Perspective" continues to take the band's positive vibe and push it even further.  It will feature 8 new genre-bending songs recorded at Uptown Recording in Chicago.  Samples from the new CD will be posted once the final mix and digital mastering is completed.

Joy Missile's sophmore CD "Bent Perspective" is in the digital mastering process.  Work on the CD's artwork and liner is also being completed.

 The Bent Perspective CD will be available in May of 2008.
 

JoyMissile is very excited about the feedback received on the upcoming CD.  We are presently arranging bookings.  The show includes 20 all original songs and some band cover favorites. We're really looking forward to rocking out and spreading the joy with all our friends and supporters!
